In a special edition of Women’s Wear Daily magazine, Kris Jenner, the eponymous creative force and “momager” of the Kardashian clan announced the end of their reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The series, which has seen decreased viewership now in its 19th season, peaking at 4.8M in total viewers in the season 4 finale in 2010 to just 810,000 in its most recent episode, as reported in the LA Times. Jenner attributes its downfall to the very source that has made the Kardashians household names and kept the show afloat all these many seasons:

“When we first started, there was no Instagram or Snapchat or other social media platforms,” she told WWD’s Beauty Inc. special issue. “The world has changed. Now there are so many [media options] … the viewer doesn’t have to wait three or four months to see an episode. We can give them all of the information anyone would ever want to know in real-time,” Jenner said.

The final season of the show will air on E! next year.
